About the University Times
The University Times began as a quarterly newspaper for “alumni, friends and parents” that was intended to supplement issues of Pitt Magazine and replace individual school and department newsletters. This iteration of the newspaper published only three issues: December 1968, and March and June 1969.
Overlapping the original newspaper was a bi-weekly newspaper also titled University Times, which was intended “for the Campus Community and Friends of the University of Pittsburgh.” This version was for the campus community and replaced the Faculty News and Weekly Calendar publications. The first issue of the new University Times was published on April 29, 1969, and remained in publication until September 1, 2016. Since that time, the University Times transitioned to a digital format and it continues to publish online-only issues.
