Description
William Thaw was a trustee and benefactor of the Western University of Pennsylvania. He was a founding member of the association that built Allegheny Observatory and was a primary supporter of the work done there by Samuel P. Langley. Thaw Hall, the only remaining building from the Acropolis Plan, is named in his honor.
