Description
David Kurtzman became acting Chancellor after the previous Chancellor, Stanton Crawford, died of a heart attack in 1966. Kurtzman helped bring the University of Pittsburgh out of its financial woes when the school became a state related institution in 1966. Kurtzman was replaced by Wesley Posvar in 1967.
