Description
Black & white photograph of Lynch Hall and grounds. Lynch Hall the oldest building on campus was the home of Commander Lynch and his wife. In 1923, Commander Charles McKenna Lynch built this country house named Starboard Light on his summer estate, a former dairy farm. The building was designed by the architectural firm Bartholomew and Smith. The mansion had 31 rooms and numerous baths. Renamed Lynch Hall when the University of Pittsburgh bought the Lynch Estate in 1964, the mansion sits as a centerpiece of 23 other buildings that comprise UPG's beautiful 219-acre four year college campus. The building is now used for administrative offices for the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg President, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Director of University Relations and Institutional Advancement, and Director of Human Resources.
