Biography
Francis (Frank) Hogg was an International Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Library Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, for the 1969-1970 academic year. Scope and Content Notes
The Francis Hogg Faculty Papers span the years 1958 - 1970. These consist of teaching material for the various courses that he taught at the then Graduate School of Information Sciences. The materials include lecture notes, syllabi, reading lists and even exam questions to some of the courses. Some of the teaching material were first used in his teaching engagements in Wales. Also included are student projects for both Masters and Doctoral students. This part of the collection is arranged alphabetically by course and then numerically by course code.
The collection is organized into four series: I. Administrative files, 1969-1970. II. Correspondence, 1965-1970. III. Publications and Papers, 1960-1970. IV. Teaching Activities, 1958-1970. The files are arranged alphabetically by course and then numerically by course code.
The bulk of the Correspondence series is between Hogg and colleagues both in the teaching and practicing professions and a small amount between friends and family. Additionally there are materials from talks and lectures to students and faculty in universities across the US and Canada and other institutions such as the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and Akron Public libraries.
Series IV. consists of reports, articles, and conference papers. These deal mostly with the development of libraries and library education. Series V. includes a metal plate photograph, presumably of Hogg's two sons.
